SEEDS BRAND LIST FOR GARDENING AND GROCERY (for eating) OWNED BY MONSANTO

growing-seed1The urban gardening movement is gaining momentum in various countries around the world, which more and more people are building a new food and environmental awareness: children, for example, begin to see that the food is not just something that you go and purchase, but produced, comes from the work and gives us the delicious properties.

However, the enthusiasm of the urban gardens movement could be overshadowed by a name too well known: Monsanto.

At least since 2005, the company responsible for promoting the use of genetically modified seeds took control of 40% of the vegetable seed market in the United States to acquire the company Seminis, a leading seed producers.

The risk of buying seeds from Seminis brand is the same as buying GMO corn seeds Monsanto: behind the brand is a company that dangerously threatens biodiversity of seeds-seeds that could be planted, unknowingly, in our own gardens.

Some relevant considerations when buying your local garden seeds as well as fruits and vegetables are:

1. Make sure your brand is not affiliated seeds Monsanto

If it is possible, try to buy your seeds in local markets. Buyer seeds at garden, avoid buying the following brands:

El movimiento de jardines urbanos está cobrando fuerza en diferentes países del mundo, con lo cual más y más personas están construyendo una nueva conciencia alimentaria y ambiental: los niños, por ejemplo, comienzan a ver que la comida no es solamente algo que uno va y compra, sino que se produce, viene del trabajo y nos aporta sus deliciosas propiedades.

Sin embargo, el entusiasmo del movimiento por jardines urbanos podría verse opacado por un nombre demasiado conocido: Monsanto.

Al menos desde el 2005, la compañía responsable de promover el uso de semillas genéticamente modificadas se hizo con el control del 40% del mercado de semillas de verduras en los Estados Unidos al adquirir la compañía Seminis, uno de los principales productores de semillas.

El riesgo de comprar semillas de la marca Seminis es el mismo que comprar semillas GMO de maíz Monsanto: detrás de la marca se encuentra una compañía que peligrosamente amenaza la biodiversidad de semillas –semillas que podríamos estar plantando, sin saberlo, en nuestros propios jardines.

Algunas consideraciones pertinentes al comprar tus semillas para jardinería local así como de frutas y verduras son las siguientes:

1. Asegúrate que la marca de tus semillas no está afiliada a Monsanto

En caso de ser posible, procura comprar tus semillas en mercados locales. Si compras semillas en tiendas de jardinería, evita comprar las siguientes marcas:
